Kinetic Watch Charger, Technical
We have upgraded these normal winders in our own workshop, by replacing the Electronics and the Motor, we have also replaced the Gearbox with a specially built very high quality one; they run quiet and smooth and will fully charge your kinetic watch in 3 hours.
We have got the movement just right, a little faster and the osculating weight which is supposed to fall under gravity goes round with the watch due to friction, so it won't charge your watch.
If it is not fast enough, the voltage produced is not high enough to fully charge the Capacitor/ Battery.
On the standard Kinetic, when you press the power button at 2 o/c, the seconds hand should move over 10 seconds, if not the storage cell is getting damaged due to the battery being almost flat.
The Auto-Relay, Chronograph and the perpetual calendar do not have an indicator, you don’t know how much charge it has. So it might be getting slowly damaged if it’s almost flat.
If you use our charger at say the beginning of each month for a couple of hours your storage cell should last 20 years instead of just a few.
There are some chargers advertised on eBay from Australia, using our design from over 11 years ago which is obsolete now.
The Australian one takes a month to fully charge a Kinetic, our new one only takes 3 hours.
